Day of Judgement will be such a day where the account of all the humans and jinns that have come into the world till date will be written. On that day every creature will know its fate, no being can escape that day, everyone will have to face that day where Allah will be the judge.
Allah has dedicated a surah in the Qur’an for that day, Surah Al-Qiyamah. Apart from this Allah has also mentioned that day in many other surahs, such as Surah Al-Mutaffifin 4-6.
“Do such people not think that they will be resurrected”
“for a tremendous Day—”
“the Day ˹all˺ people will stand before the Lord of all worlds?”
Introduction
There will be some signs before the Resurrection about which we know from the Quran or Hadith. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, It will not come until you see ten signs before and (in this connection) he made a mention of the smoke, Dajjal, the beast, the rising of the sun from the west, the descent of Jesus son of Mary (Allah be pleased with him), the Gog and Magog, and land-slides in three places, one in the east, one in the west and one in Arabia at the end of which fire would burn forth from the Yemen, and would drive people to the place of their assembly. (Sahih Muslim 2901a)
The prophet Muhammad SAW warned us that the sign of the end times is like pearls or beads, fastened by a string and once the string is cut they fall, one after the other.
1. The Dukhan
The prophet Muhammad SAW mentioned in the hadith “the day of judgment will not take place until you experience ad dukhan (Sahih Muslim 2901 a).
The meaning of Ad-Dukhan in Arabic is Smoke. Before the day of judgment a smoke will appear in the skies. We will see it, we will also feel it, it will enter our noses. This smoke will cover entire earth from north to south and west to east.
Allah SWT speaks about it in the Qur’an e kareem in Surah Ad-Dukhan 10-12
“Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke”
“covering the people, this is a painful torment and punishment”
“people will say ya Allah, turn away and remove this torment and punishment from us we are believers.”
2. The Dajjal
Appearance of Dajjal is one of the biggest signs of Day of judgment. When the Dajjal comes out there is going to be thousands of Ulama of this ummah that will actually follow him.
Ulama scholars of Islam, women of Islam and there will be a large section of the followers of Musa AS they will follow him.
Scholars believes that the Dajjal is already alive and is already trapped or Dajjal Will be born after 30 years to parents who will not have children. He is going to be a very strange looking human being. Most likely Dajjal is going to be someone that is going to be less than the age of 25. He is going to be a young man and he is going to have great influence. Description is clear in Hadith, where his right eye is blind but it’s swollen. His left eye is defective but he can still see surroundings. On his forehead the word is written KAF-FA-RA, but only the believers can see it. His neck is going to be thick; his body is going to be very wide and his legs are going to be quite wide apart.
When he will come out, he will rule the whole earth for 40 days. The 1st day of his 40 days will be 1 whole year. The next is going to be 1 month then the next day is going to be 1week after that the rest of the days are going to be normal days.
3. The Dabbat
Ad Dabbat in Arabic means anyone who walks in the world can be an animal, can be a human or can be an animal but in general Dabbat refers to an beast.
Dabbat is not a human but it will have some qualities of humans like speaking. Allah has said in “And when the word [i.e., decree] befalls them,1 We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, [saying] that the people were, of Our verses, not certain [in faith]. “Quran 27:82“
Allah has made it clear that before the Doomsday a beast will come from this world who will talk to the people. This means that the beast will not come from the sky or from anywhere else but will come from this world.
That beast will be able to speak and what it will say will tell everyone about the coming of Allah and the miracles. It is also mentioned in the Hadith that it will tell people whether you are a believer or a non-believer.
4. The rising of the sun from the west
The sun rising from the west before the day of judgment is a powerful symbol in Islam. It signifies the end of the world and the beginning of the day of judgment when everyone will be judged according to their deeds.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “The Hour will not be established till the sun rises from the west, and when it rises (from the west) and the people see it, then all of them will believe (in Allah). But that will be the time when ‘No good it will do to a soul to believe then. If it believed not before.”‘ (Sahih al-Bukhari 6506) this hadith is a clear indication that the sun rising from the west is a major sign of the day of the judgement and that it will be a time of reckoning for all humanity
5. The arrival of Isa AS
The prophet Muhammad SAW has warned us that during the end times the world will face such great calamities, and humanity will be put through such extreme trials unlike any that ever existed before since the time of creation of the man.
He warned us that there will be such fitna, corruption, such pain and torment, at unimaginable levels that there will be times when the best action a man can do is to bite onto the root of a tree and await his death.
Then Allah SWT will send hazrat Isa AS as the saviour for the entire world, not as a messenger, not as a nabi, not as a rasool but as the Calipha of the earth. He will descend with his hands on the wings of two angels at the white Minarets in the Ummayad Mosque in Damascus, Syria. He will pray the salaat’ul Fajr with the Muslims behind the Imaam Mahdi to show all the those who are there that he is a servant of Allah.
Isa AS will wipe the faces of the believers and tell them of their rank in Jannah. He will ask the gates to be open and Isa AS will kill the Al Massih Ad-Dajjal.
6. Ya’juj and Ma’juj
Before the Day of Judgement, the people of Ya’juj and Majuj will come in this world and create chaos everywhere. Ya’juj and Majuj are not persons rather they are the names of two tribes.
Ya’juj and Majuj have been mentioned at two places in the Quran, one Surah Al-Kahf 99 and Surah al Ambiya 95. Allah has told about Ya’juj and Majuj in the Quran, what is their origin, what is their story and how Dhul-Qarnayn has closed them all. Ya’juj and Majuj are in numbers like the numbers of bugs and wasps. Before the Day of Judgement, Ya’juj and Majuj will break the wall that has kept them all locked up. They will create havoc in the entire world, at that time Essa ibn Maryam has already came to the world.
7, 8, 9 Three Zalazil (Earthquake and landslide)
Before the Day of Judgment, there will be 3 big earthquakes in the world due to which people all over the world will come to know that an earthquake is coming. These earthquakes will not be ordinary earthquakes. This will be such a calamity for humans that has never been seen before. Allah told in the Quran:-
“When the earth is shaken ˹in˺ its ultimate quaking,”
“and when the earth throws out ˹all˺ its contents,”
“and humanity cries, “What is wrong with it?”—
“on that Day the earth will recount everything,”
“having been inspired by your Lord ˹to do so˺” (Surah Zalzalah 1-5)
It is clearly understood from these verses that those earthquakes will occur by the order of Allah and their intensity will be very high and humans will reach there, what has happened?
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: and land-slides in three places, one in the east, one in the west and one in Arabia Sahih Muslim 2901a. He was telling our prophet about some signs that would happen before the Doomsday and one of those signs is that there will be landslides on the land of east, west and Arabia.
10. The Great Fire (NAR)
This fire is not mentioned in the Quran but it has been mentioned in many hadiths. The most famous hadith out of all of them is mentioned in Sahih Muslim that the Day of Judgement will not happen until 10 signs are seen.
Our beloved prophet told at the end of this hadith that “at the end of which fire would burn forth from the Yemen, and would drive people to the place of their assembly.” Sahih Muslim 2901a. If all the hadiths are combined then we will know that this fire will start from Yemen and it will force people to flee from it and they will be forced to go to Bilad Al-Sham.
